01What is the difference between Demo and Mic?
Demo is a clearly labeled deterministic reference signal and needs no permission. Mic analyzes the current input route in real time. You can switch at any time in Input & Controls.
02Does Mic record me?
No. Normal Mic mode analyzes short windows in memory and discards them. A file is created only after you explicitly tap Record, and the red recording state remains visible.
03How do I analyze an audio file?
Choose Audio in Input & Controls or open a supported audio file from Files or another app. SignalMetric keeps one protected import-cache item and shows a seekable local player.
04Why is True Peak marked as an estimate?
SignalMetric oversamples by 4× to estimate inter-sample peaks. That is useful evidence, but the app is not a certified delivery-compliance meter.
05Why is this not an SPL decibel meter?
The iPhone input is not calibrated here for acoustic pressure. SignalMetric reports digital dBFS and loudness values, not dBA, dBC, dose or legal sound exposure.
06Can I certify a broadcast master with it?
No. The EBU R128 and ATSC A/85 references are visual targets. Formal delivery requires a compliant meter, channel workflow and validation procedure.
07How do I delete recordings?
Open Recordings from Input & Controls, choose Delete for the local item and confirm. Removing the app also removes its private recording storage.
08Microphone access was denied. What now?
Open iOS Settings, find SignalMetric, enable Microphone, return to the app and choose Mic again. Demo and imported-file analysis remain available without it.
